How Does TagIDz work?

  • You purchase one or more identification codes that you can tag things with and

you set up a message to display when someone looks up your code at this site.

  • You label one or more items with the code and this Web site name.

  • If anyone sees an item that has this tag code, they look it up here and see your message

    and respond accordingly.

  • You may also choose to have TagIDz e-mail you a message from the person who looked up your code.

You can change your Tag's information record and even transfer it if you sell the tagged item.

What can be labeled?

  • Electronics.

  • Cables.

  • Bikes.

  • Pets (with a collar Tag).

  • Water  Bottles.

  • Shampoo containers.

  • Keys (with a dog Tag).

  • Clocks.

  • Watches.

  • Wedding rings.

  • Mugs.

  • Sunglasses.

  • Catalytic converters.

  • Computers.

  • Furniture.

  • Grills

  • Outdoor furniture.

  • A card or letter to send a secret message.

  • Anything that can be written on, engraved, attached to, whatever!

Why label things?

  • If the item is ever lost, this information can be used to contact you.

  • If the item is ever stolen, the code provides recovery information

(if the code is obliterated after the theft, at least it becomes clear that the merchandise is stolen,

making it harder to sell in the marketplace).

  • If you just want a fun way to send a message, this is it!

How can I label things?

How can I contact TagIDz if  I have a question?

How many TagIDz tags will I need?

  • The answer is...well...it depends.  The TagIDz value you receive should be affixed to the item you want to associate with it.  If you have more than one item to Tag, you may apply or affix the same tag to all of the items.  However, if you ever intend to sell an item and therefore need to transfer the Tag to the new owner, it will need its own tag.  Because of this, each item that you may separately sell and that has the Tag permanently affixed to it should have its own tag from the beginning.  Otherwise, you will carry the burden of handling the recovery of the item even after it is sold.  That could be difficult!

How do I transfer a TagIDz record to someone else or complete a transfer made to me?

  • Click the navigation bar to Update a Tag.

  • Change the password to something you want to share with the new owner and set the e-mail values to those of the new owner.

  • Submit the Update request.

  • Both you and the new recipient will receive an e-mail with the new information.

  • The new owner should then go in and Update the TagIDz information to new information specific to the new owner.  The new owner will receive the updated information in e-mail and the old owner will  no longer know the password!
